Knowing Purpose

Mark Twain once said life consists of two very important days,

The day you were born and the day you find out why.

The ‘why’ is your purpose,

That which you complete before, to this world, you say bye.

Then, if it is important, sooner rather than later, you need to know wherein your purpose lies.

To know as in to be aware or have information,

To be cognizant of an occurrence, circumstance or fact.

You first must identify it,

After which you may begin to think about how you’ll act,

And how you will go about making an impact.

How to see it? How to know it?

There is so much in this world to be done.

There is one, or two, specific tasks for you,

For which you may, or may not, receive an income.

But you will find it to be rewarding once you have begun.

One big step that will help you to identify it,

That task you ought to do-

Praying to God who will reveal,

His will and plans to be pursued.

He will tell you “great and hidden things you have not known”, things meant for you.

What are you passionate about? Do you have a talent?

Though not a must, they often coincide.

The thing you like doing or standing out for,

May with your purpose collide.

They may be one in the same or just work well side by side.

Your experiences might give you information,

About what your purpose is.

Think back on what you have been through,

How you dealt with issues and made choices.

Exploring old and new ideas might just be the solution to this quiz.

I hope one day you will find it,

Soon before time is all gone,

And I pray you will do your best with it-

Afterall, it is your purpose. It was for this you were born.

May you be able to say “it is well and I have done what was to be done.”
