Things I love about Church

Hello Friends! Welcome to another blog post where today I will share with you some of the things I love about church. What is a church? The Oxford dictionary describes it as a public space for Christian worship. There are many different religions who have their place of worship but it’s called a different name, for example Hindu’s worhip in a temple while people of Islam in a mosque. For me the church is my domain. The church consists of God’s people. It is the assembly of believers in Jesus Christ. It is a place that should facilitate fellowship, worship and ministry. It is a place to be deemed as sacred and holy. I love church for many reasons and today I will share some with you.

Quote: “A church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints”. – Pauline Phillips

5 Things I love about Church:

1. The presence of God: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matt. 18:19–20.) When we gather in a church and begin worship whether by praying or singing this worship invites the Holy Spirit to dwell among us.

2. Fellowship: Christian fellowship is a genuine bond between like minded individuals with shared beliefs, convictions and behavior. This fellowship produces our mutual cooperation in God’s worship, God’s work, and God’s will being done in the world. These activities not only include being at church but doing activities together such as not only going out to do God’s work but forming lasting relationships with people who can take part in everyday life.

3. The environment or ambiance: When I go to church I love how the space is kept clean, reverenced and respected. When you step through the doors you feel at peace, calm and welcomed. The space is decorated with God in mind. You can look around and know it’s a place of worship. The altar where the Bible is preached. The choir that sings beautiful hymns and the people who all come with humbleness and love that is so infectious.

4. The Ministry: The Bible is held in high regards and preached with clarity. The word of God is honored, upheld, and taught week after week, even if it steps on toes or rubs someone the wrong way. God’s word is never compromised. “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”( 2 Timothy 4:2). God wants us not to be comfortable in our sins but that when we come to church we can arise from sin and turn our lives completely over to him.

5. The people: People who become not only friends but brothers and sisters through Christ. When you are in God’s church you gain new relatives. Relatives who can pray for you, help you where you fall short and be there whenever you need them. “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” ( Romans 12 vs 10-13)

I know with the covid virus many of us have not been to church at all or have become satisfied with online worship but I advise you now that as the churches have reopened, to go back. There is an atmosphere and spiritual fulfillment in church like no other. Remember that God loves you and the church is for everyone.
