Little is Much…

Hello Friends! I am sure you have heard of many miracles that Jesus performed. Today we will look at one that signifies what abundance God can create from the little in our lives. The tales of Jesus’ miracles are told with such details and beautiful significance in the Bible. It was even stated by Ellen G. white an author and co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church that “Christ never worked a miracle except to supply a genuine necessity, and every miracle was of a character to lead the people to the tree of life, whose leaves are for the healing of the nations.” In this story we see where Jesus not only did this miracle for a genuine need of the people but we see demonstrated here how a child, a young lad of a humble character played a recommendable role.

Abundance is defined as something existing or available in large quantities and in this miracle recorded in John chapter 6 we see this miracle of abundance. Jesus and His disciples went over the see of Galilee and a great number of people followed Him to hear His teachings because they were amazed by the many miracles they had heard of or seen Him performed. They were all gathered and it was said that the passover, a feast of the Jews was about to begin. Jesus saw the needs of his followers and voiced to his disciples “whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5). The disciples explained buying bread would not be enough to feed so many people (vs 9). Andrew, one of the disciples, pointed out a young boy who had five barley loaves and two fish. This was the only part of the story the young boy was mentioned; but just like the little maid we discussed last week we see how they both played a role in fulfilling the needs of people as Christ would.

This young boy of course would have been hungry as well and maybe even tired. He exhibited generosity, faith, trust and fearlessness on the command of the disciples who would have requested him to give up the loaves and fish. Jesus went on to use that small packed lunch to feed over 5000 people gathered at the seaside. There were even barrels of left overs. We are never too young, or old, to trust God or to have faith. The faith, that I am sure, this young boy had to give up his food.

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV

Today we learn the lesson that little is much when God is in it and little is much when we have faith. There is nothing that you’re lacking which God cannot grant or multiply in your life.

Be blessed, share and join us next week!
